In November 2017, Remote Entry Systems was entrusted with securing Grad Space – The Factory, a modern student living and study complex in Stellenbosch. Home to Stellenbosch University students, this vibrant space required a tailored security solution that balanced safety, convenience, and 24/7 access.
Our team designed and implemented an integrated security network featuring:
RFID Access Control – Contactless entry points for residents, ensuring only authorized students could access the building and specific areas.
CCTV Surveillance – High-definition cameras strategically placed to cover entrances, communal areas, and key corridors.
Electronic Locks – Secure and efficient room access without the need for traditional keys.
Gate Automation – Smooth and reliable automated gates for vehicle and pedestrian entry.
Separate Room Alarm Systems – Individualized alarm units for enhanced privacy and safety in each student apartment.
1. High-Traffic Environment
With hundreds of students entering and exiting daily, the system needed to handle heavy use without delays. We installed commercial-grade RFID readers for quick, frictionless access and durable automated gates capable of continuous operation.
2. Privacy & Individual Security
Each student apartment required personalized security without interfering with communal access. Our solution: installing separate room alarm systems linked to central monitoring, ensuring both shared and private spaces stayed protected.
3. Round-the-Clock Safety
Given that students often study late and move in and out at all hours, the system needed 24/7 functionality. We implemented UPS backup systems for all security equipment, ensuring uninterrupted operation even during load shedding.
4. Campus Lifestyle Integration
Recognizing that students live, study, and socialize within the complex, we designed the solution to be non-intrusive, user-friendly, and aesthetically integrated into the property’s modern architecture.
